Successfully received images from Meteor M1 during this morning’s first pass (max. elevation 27°): This is the best I could come up with by auto levelling colors of channels 1 & 2 first and then combining them (1,2,3) into an RGB image

Here is an RGB image made from channels 1, 2 and 3, received during today’s second pass over Central Europe (44° above horizon). Images from first two channels were color balanced and then combined with original image from channel no. 3 into an RGB image.

      Hi, Simon!
      Black line is result of the defect satelite’s internal software processing with JPG-format.
      During the night passage black lines may disappear because there are enough resources due to black images of the visible range.

    Thanks for replying. Interesting, I would not have thought that the 6-minute black lines were a software problem, because you can clearly see a radio spectrum change in the waterfall when the line appears.

    Yes, I understood you that the reason for the black lines is a software problem on the satellite. But still I would not expect to a change in the signal if it was only an image processing problem. When the line appears, there is a short but very apparent change in the radio signal from the satellite. I thought the reason was a hardware malfunction or something (maybe overheating the radio transmitter). Anyway, too bad the software can not be remotely updated on the satellite.

    Very interesting information regarding the Meteor M1, Happysat. Indeed, I have just seen a weak signal from Meteor M1 (max 8° above horizon), but no lock was accomplished. Will see if I have more luck tomorrow morning.

    Happysat: If I understood information in comments on correctly on rtl-sdr.com, M1 is now transmitting in 72K mode? That would explain why I did get no picture today in 80K mode (but the signal was locked anyway, is this nromal?).

    Simon thats right its normal you must use 72K, it will lock on 80K but no image indeed.
    Also the exact frequency is not 137.100 MHz but 137.0968MHz so you get a lock faster.

    Tanks for replying, Alex. Set to 72K it indeed worked and an image was received during a low night pass (14° above horizon), but since it was dark, the image is black. Looking forward to tomorrow’s daylight passes.

    Does anyone know if Meteor M1 switched to 80K today? I was not at the receiving station to see what was going on, but I have received no images from Meteor M1 during today’s morning passes. Yesterday night the satellite was transmiting 72K signal normally. Any information?
